Moshood Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, says the command has restored the security detail of Mojisola Meranda, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Jimoh said Meranda’s security detail was initially withdrawn for audit purposes.
Jimoh explained that the withdrawal of the security details attached to the speaker and other Very Important Personalities (VIPs) in the state was in line with an ongoing audit of Police personnel and fire arms
He disclosed that the same audit is currently being conducted in other states Police Commands and not Lagos alone.
Earlier, a high ranking official in the Lagos assembly confirmed that Meranda’s security aides were withdrawn in the morning.
Shortly after, Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached speaker, rode into the assembly complex with a retinue of security aides.
A source disclosed that Obasa’s security aides were restored on Thursday morning.
