US election: Kamala Harris declares presidential bid after Biden drops out

U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris has declared her intention to run for the presidency.
This announcement comes shortly after President Joe Biden endorsed her candidacy, amidst rising concerns about his age and health.

President Biden, who has been under increasing pressure to step down from his re-election bid, cited the need for a unified Democratic Party and a strong contender to lead the country.

Following his decision to withdraw from the race, he expressed his full support for Vice President Harris, emphasizing her qualifications and leadership skills.

Harris, in her declaration, vowed to ensure a Democratic victory in the upcoming presidential election. She stressed her commitment to addressing the nation’s pressing issues and uniting all factions within the Democratic Party.

According to Harris: “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.

“Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead.

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation – to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.

“We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
