Uber driver calls out Abia Rep. Alex Ikwechegh for assault
A House of Representatives member, Honorable Alex Ikwechegh draws significant attention and outrage following a viral video where he assaulted an Uber driver during a delivery at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.
According to the driver, tensions escalated when he requested that the Honourable representing the Aba North/South Federal Constituency come outside to receive his delivery personally.
The video shows the visibly angry lawmaker verbally berating and cursing the driver, reportedly taking offence at being asked to step out of his convenience to receive his items.
As the altercation intensified, the footage captured Hon. Ikwechegh slapping the driver multiple times, insisting the request was disrespectful given his social status. At one point in the recording, Ikwechegh is allegedly heard threatening the driver, claiming he could make him “disappear” without facing any consequences.
A second part of the video, now circulating online, shows the driver sitting in his car without a shirt, claiming that Alex Ikwechegh tore his clothes.
However, the video has sparked condemnations from Nigerians, who described the lawmaker’s outburst as unnecessary and the assault on the driver as oppression and abuse of power.
Reacting, MayJaYBaE wrote: “He said he’d make him disappear in Nigeria and nothing will happen on top say make he come collect item. He felt he disrespected him. A simple please bring in inside the house, just normal courtesy. He felt an ordinary Bolt driver should lick his ass. Stupid classism.”
ChuksOhaxx opined: “God don butter this guy bread.. find better lawyer and sue that man joor. Life changing opportunity with evidence. Lmao.”
Seankleann reacted: “Even if he sues for assault, as a member of House of Representatives, I dont think the @PoliceNG will do justice to this case. I strongly doubt the outcome favoring that Uber Driver, do you know why? Bcos he’s a NOBODY. Just watch how the matter would be swept under the carpet.”
HeDontMakeNoise noted: “I will make you dissappear and nothing will happen” ke??? This is enough to ruin his political career permanently but… You can already see ret@rded Nigerians, who are so in love with their chains, trying to justify these shameful actions.”
On X, a user, @Nevosys, tweeted, “The Honourable expected a full delivery, not to pick up items himself. Delivery drivers should bring items to recipients, not vice versa. But the bolt driver thought he was the main guard to the boss. Most delivery companies operate that way.”
A netizen, who tweets as @abalaka_sunday posted, “How about investigating and inviting him about those that have disappeared so far without a trace? There’s a tendency he may have to make some people disappear from someone or people before without anything happening. From words people use, it’s possible confirmation of their historical events.”
Another X.com user, Did, posting as @ndidi_patricia, wrote, “A misguided idiot who abused the limited power he was given. What stops him from sending someone to grab the package if he’s too big to pick his own package lol …this country is in deep shit.”
