Teachers recruitment: Ondo SUBEB warns applicants against racketeers
The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has warned those that applied for job placement in the ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise into public primary schools in the state against activities of racketeers.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Prince Bolu Ajijo, Director, Information and Public Relations, ODSUBEB.
The statement reads: “This warning becomes imperative following credible information that some nefarious people, not staff of ODSUBEB, are cashing in on the genuine desire of unsuspecting members of the public, especially applicants who were invited for the just-concluded physical interviews, to secure job placement in the public service of the state.
“This cabal of job racketeers is going about the state, promising to help people, especially those who applied for the job initially, secure teaching appointments in ODSUBEB by parting with various sums of money to bribe their way through.
“The Board, for the umpteenth time, wishes to make it very clear to the general public that it is not selling appointment letters. The process of releasing appointment letters to those to be employed is almost completed.
“Consequently, ODSUBEB hereby warns members of the public and applicants against patronizing anybody or job syndicate ravaging the state, promising to secure teaching appointments by paying for it.”
Continuing, “The Board and its staff have nothing to do with this, and in line with government policy, no kobo was demanded from job seekers while filling the application forms online and at the physical interviews that were just concluded.
“The nefarious activities of this job racketeering syndicate are a deliberate attempt to cast aspersions on the Board’s hard-earned corporate image and truncate the state government’s good intention to create jobs for people in the labour market and fill existing critical vacancies in public primary schools.
“While assuring the general public that the Board will soon make public the names of the successful candidates out of the over 8000 appointable applicants who were invited for physical interviews, it wishes to appeal to the public as good citizens to report anybody or group that demanded any form of gratification towards securing teaching appointments in the state to the underlisted dedicated phone number: 08073820510 or the nearest police post.”
