Teachers’ recruitment: Ondo SUBEB begins oral interview Tuesday, June 25

The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board(ODSUBEB) says it will on Tuesday, June 25 commence oral interview for 8,177 successful candidates in the Aptitude test conducted for the recruitment of primary school teachers in the state.

According to a statement by ODSUBEB Director of Information and Public Relations, Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, the oral interview will commence at 9.00am in the six local government areas that made up the Ondo North Senatorial District.

Thefrontrank reports that out of 8,177 shortlisted candidates, 1,000 would be selected for recruitment into the service by the state government.

The statement reads: “Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board ODSUBEB is set to conduct physical interviews for over eight thousands applicants that passed the Computer Based Test to teach in the Public Primary Schools across the State.

“The exercise according to the Executive Chairman of the Board, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan contrary to public out cry that greeted the recently released list of successful applicants that passed the qualifying Examinations for the job, is to select the best suitably qualified candidates out of those that were invited for the interviews

“To reduce the stress of the applicants from far flung areas of the State, the Board has decided to conduct the interviews close to their bases at a centre in each of the Federal Constituencies to which the state is divided into.

“The Board also divided the panel to conduct the physical interviews into 3 – Team, and each Team will handle the exercise at headquarters of one of the local government areas in the federal Constituency chosen for the interview

“For the purposes of this exercise, each applicant is expected to bring to the venue of the exercise all his/her original certificates including birth and Primary six Certificates.

“Olabimtan who appreciated the State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for approving the recruitment of 1000 teachers for Primary and Secondary Schools each said the gesture will go a long way to bridge avoidable gap between quality of education of received by Pupils/Students in rural and urban areas respectively..

“According to the former, Chairman, Ondo State Teaching Service Commission, TESCON, some of the reasons that informed the on going exercise is to fill existing critical vacancies in our Public Primary Schools and at the same time address the nagging issue of school children in our State.

“To Olabimtan if the issue of disparity in the quality of education received by children in rural areas and that of urban centres is not addressed frontally it is going to be a time bomb that will do no one any good in the nearest future.

“The Interview Panels puts in place by the Board comprises top technocrats from relevant MDAs such as Education, Civil Service Commission, Establishment, Service Matters, Local Government and Chieftaincies Affairs, ODSUBEB and office of the Accountant General of the State.

“The panel will commence their assignments on Tuesday, 25th June, 2024 from the six Local Government area that made up Ondo North Senatorial District, Wednesday is the turn of the Six Local Government areas in Ondo South Senatorial District and Thursday is the turn of the local government areas in Ondo Central.

“The Physical interviews will commence at the chosen centres in each of the Federal Constituencies by 9: 00am day

“Applicants are advised to arrive early and be orderly to ensure a smooth exercise.”
