Road accident claims seven lives in Ogun

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said a road crash in Ogere area of Ogun State has claimed the lives of seven persons.

The accident which happened at about 9:33 pm on Monday involved 18 persons.

Spokesperson for the Ogun Sector Command of FRSC, Florence Okpe, said the accident involved a truck with no registration number and a Mazda bus registered as MNY894YN.

Okpe blamed the accident on speeding on the part of the Mazda bus driver who rammed into a moving truck from the rear.

She said: “A total of 18 persons involved which comprised 15 male adult and 3 female adult. 11 people were injured 9 male adult and 2 female adult while 7 Persons were recorded death from the crash, five male and two female.”

She noted that the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue Ipara.

She urged drivers to stick to reasonable speed limits particularly at night and in the rain.

She advised passengers to constantly be vigilant in order to correct drivers’ errors.
