Presidency denies viral ‘Tinubu speaks’ statement

The Presidency has distance itself from a viral statement titled ‘Tinubu Speaks’ and credited to President Bola Tinubu, describing it as fake.

Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in response to enquires on Saturday, dismissed the viral message attributed to his principal.

“Based on recent inquiries, I wish to reiterate that this is fake and does not emanate from the Presidency,” Ngelale said.

The fabricated statement had been widely shared on social media platforms, purported to be a speech from President Tinubu addressing the nation’s economic challenges.

It outlined a series of drastic measures, including a 50% salary cut for top government officials, the scrapping of the Office of the First Lady, and the restoration of fuel and electricity subsidies as some measures to ameliorate the current suffering of the masses.

The fake message also claimed that the President was planning to reduce the number of his ministers, sell off presidential aircraft, and implement a ban on foreign medical trips for government officials.
