Owolabi Olakulehin to emerge new Olubadan

As Ibadan indigenes prepare to bury the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the king makers are already looking at the Balogun of Ibadan land, Owolabi Olakulehin, as the next in line as the Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Oba Lekan Balogun died on Thursday at the age of 81.

Olakulehin will be crowned as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland subject to the approval of the state governor, Seyi Makinde.

Olakulehin hails from Ita Baale in Ibadan North East Local Government and has been within the Olubadan-In-Council for more than 10 years.

It was learnt he is quite older than the late Oba Lekan Balogun.

He was a member of the House of Representative in the Third Republic

It is expected that palace drummers will move from Alli-Iwo to the Ita Baale Palace of Ọba Olakulehin, heralding his symbolic ascension to the throne.
