Ondo PDP reappoints Media and Publicity Director, debunks resignation report

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked the purported resignation of its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Leye Igbagbo.

It was reported on Thursday that Igbagbo had resigned from his position as the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP in Ondo State.

Responding to the report in a statement on Thursday, Mr Oluseye Olujimi, State Secretary of the PDP, claimed that Igbagbo’s tenure had lapsed and he has been reappointed

However, competent source at the party Secretariat disclosed that the issue that led to the resignation of Igbagbo had been amicably resolved in a meeting with the State Chairman and State Secretary of the party to save the PDP from embarrassment ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Speaking further on the issue, Olujimi said the Ondo State Caretaker Committee of the Party has approved Igbagbo’s reappointment with immediate effect.

“Our attention has been drawn to the news of the purported resignation of the Director of Media and Publicity, PDP, Ondo State, Hon Leye Igbagbo.

“We wish to clearly state that Hon Leye Igbabo did not resign from his office but that his tenure lapsed. However, the Ondo State Caretaker Committee of the Party has graciously approved his reappointment with immediate effect.

“We acknowledge Leye Igbagbo diligence to duties and commitment to the party, the reason for his reappointment and we do hope that he will bring his experience to further manage the party’s publicity job more than ever before,” he said.
