The Vice-Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan fffps, has shown his displeasure and allayed the fear of stakeholders over a rumour going round that there was a fire outbreak that threatened lives and property on campus around 8: 45 p.m. on Monday, 27 January 2025.
He stated that it was a case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest which was promptly quenched by stakeholders in the University community and the State Fire Service. There was no explosion of any transformer as there was no transformer at the site of the fire incident.
He explained that the university primed public health and safety of its stakeholders as very strategic, and this has resulted in the acquisition of a large quantity of fire extinguishers.
He advised people to always cross-check the fact in order to avoid being misled by rumour-mongers whose businesses are to cause disaffection and destabilisation.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciates all staff and students as well as officials of the State Fire Service for their promptness in putting out the fire. He also thanked all well-wishers who called to show concern.
