The Mushin Local Government in Lagos State has changed the Aguiyi Ironsi International Spare Parts Market in Ladipo to Paramo International Spare Parts Market.
Thefrontrank reports that the Chairman of the local government, Emmanuel Bamigboye, disclosed this in a video post on his X account.
Bamigboye explained that the name change was to honour the original developer of the market, Paramo Hassan Olajoku.
The Chairman said the market’s name was originally Paramo but was “all of a sudden” changed to Aguiyi Ironsi.
“He (Paramo) died in the process of the activities of the party,” Mr. Bamigboye said.
“We are using this opportunity to use this name to honour him. That is the situation. It has been reversed back to Paramo spare parts international market. That is the decision of the exco and the executive arm of Mushin local government and that is our resolution for now,” he stated.
Thefrontrank reports that the name change comes amid a crisis within the market over leadership elections.
