President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to officially remove three suspended Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The officials affected are Ike Uzochukwu from Abia, Hudu Yunusa-Ari from Adamawa, and Nura Ali from Sokoto.
Tinubu’s request was sent in a letter to the Senate and was read during Wednesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The three RECs had been suspended due to alleged misconduct during the 2023 general election.
The president explained that their suspensions were already in effect before his administration took office.
He urged the Senate to take swift action on the matter.
Tinubu is also expected to submit names of new nominees to fill the vacant positions soon.
