JUST IN: Olukayode Ariwoola retires as 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria

The Chief Justice of Nigeria(CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has retired from service.

He was the 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Ariwoola’s retirement followed his attainment of 70 years.

Born on August 22, 1954, Justice Ariwoola was elevated to the bench of the Supreme Court on November 22, 2011, and appointed substantive CJN on June 27, 2022.

Ariwoola was appointed CJN following the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad

Justice Ariwoola was formally confirmed Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Senate on September 21, 2022.

There are indications that Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun will replace Ariwoola as CJN.
