Hoodlums on the rampage, set Lagos market ablaze

A section of Ilepo Market at Oke Odo, Lagos State, has been set on fire as hoodlums clashed with traders in the market.

Feelers from the area indicate that the clash ensued over quest for superiority by rival gangs in the area.

The fight which started on Wednesday night was said to have continued till Thursday morning.

Some shops in the popular Ile-Epo market were set on fire and goods destroyed.

The hoodlums were also said to have resisted an intervention by the police.

They also prevented a fire service truck which arrived at the market this morning from dousing the fire as they attacked it with stones.
