
Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a farm owner, Mr Olanrewaju Oyeleye and his manager, whose identity is yet to be known, in their farmland in Osi, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Thefrontrank gathered that they were kidnapped on Friday at about 11.00a.m in their farmland located between Abasakin and Osi community.
Oyeleye, 50, was said to have relocated from abroad to Akure about four years ago to invest in mechanised farming.
Confirming the incident, the Commander of the State Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said operatives had been deployed to rescue the victims and apprehend the kidnappers
“Our men are working tirelessly to ensure the victims are rescued from the abductors, as we are tracking their location,” Adeleye disclosed.
Meanwhile, a family source revealed that the kidnappers have demanded a ₦100 million ransom for the victims’ release.
Thefrontrank learnt that anxiety has gripped the community following the incident as other farmers immediately abandoned their farmland.
One of the farmers, who identified himself as James Odor, lamented the frequent abduction of farmers in the area on their farmland.
He noted that the frequent kidnappings of farmers in the community have made life unbearable for them and affecting their productivity.
The farmer condemned the lack of intervention by security agencies in the state.
