Gunmen attack 18-seater bus, abduct passengers in Ondo

Gunmen on Saturday attacked an 18-seater bus and abducted a yet-to-be-known number of the passengers on Irun/Imesi-Ekiti in the Akoko North-West Local Government area of Ondo State.

The victims were returning from a community in Ekiti state to lkare, in Ondo state at about 6.00pm when the incident occurred.
The victims were said to be indigenes of Irun Akoko in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Confirming the abduction, Adetunji Adeleye, Commander, Ondo State Amotekun Corps, said operatives of the Corps are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims.

“My men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest but the hoodlums did not kidnap the whole 18 passengers in the bus.
“Some of the passengers escaped, while our men, with soldiers, recovered some of the victims in the night.

“They are yet to contact anybody for ransom or disclose the number of travellers in their den.

“I can tell you authoritatively that the police, soldiers and men of the Amotekun Corps from Ondo and Ekiti states, in collaboration with some local vigilantes are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims,” Adeleye said.
