Gunmen have abducted a Nigerian Navy officer and two other individuals in the Mamman Vatsa area along Mpape Road, Abuja.
According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad, the incident occurred on Friday, March 21, at about 7:45 p.m., when armed men opened fire and seized the victims.
It was gathered that four armed assailants, shooting sporadically, kidnapped three individuals identified as: Lt. Cynthia Ako, a Nigerian Navy officer; Gold Alfred, a resident of Bwari; and one other unidentified individual.
The source disclosed that the victims were returning home in their vehicle after visiting a relative, Blessing Akor, in Beggar Quarry, Mpape, when the gunmen intercepted them.
Following the incident, Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command, personnel of the vigilantes, and local hunters have launched a joint search operation in the surrounding areas.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said she would confirm the incident and provide further details.
“I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she simply stated.
