Some yet-to-be-identified armed men have kidnapped Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Tsiga was abducted along with other residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The abduction occurred on Wednesday when armed assailants, wielding sophisticated weapons, stormed Tsiga’s home.
Local Sources reported that the attack lasted for only a few minutes, during which two residents were injured, and one of the attackers was accidentally shot by his own group.
Katsina State authorities and the police have not yet commented on the abduction, but it highlights the ongoing security issues in the region.
Katsina, like many states in north-western and central Nigeria, continues to face attacks from armed groups who frequently raid villages, kidnap residents, and destroy properties.
These suspected bandits operate from camps spread across forests in Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and Niger states. They have gained a notorious reputation for abducting students from schools in recent years.
