Eid-el-Kabir: Tinubu, govs preach sacrifice, unity

President Bola Tinubu has called for sacrifice and unity among Nigerians as the nation joins the rest of the world today to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.

Also, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his deputy Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and state governors stressed that sacrifice was necessary in this trying period in country.

In his Sallah message issued in Abuja, Tinubu urged Nigerians to use the lessons of the occasion for the collective good of the nation.

In the message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu underscored the profound meaning of the celebration, declaring that achieving great change requires a collective sense of purpose, will, and action from all citizens.

The president congratulated the Muslim faithful on the occasion, saying the event denotes sacrifice, faith, and obedience to the will of the Almighty Allah.

He felicitated the Muslim Ummah on the joyous occasion, an event described as denoting sacrifice, faith, and obedience to the will of the Almighty.

He called on citizens to spare a prayer for the nation for continuous peace and stability while working according to purpose in promoting unity, peace, and progress.

”The President acknowledges the sacrifices that Nigerians have made in the past one year as his administration sets the nation on a firm pedestal of growth and development,” the statement stated.

He took note of the significant sacrifices made by Nigerians over the past year and assured them that their efforts are beginning to bear fruit.

Also the Senate President Akpabio said the reforms introduced by the government were “meant to correct the mistakes of the past and make the country better and greater for the benefit of all.”

Akpabio begged Nigerians to “be patient as the good days are not far away.”

“ Hard times, they say never last forever and your sacrifices can never be in vain as the government of President Tinubu is in a hurry to make life enjoyable for every Nigerian,” he said and pledged that the Senate under his watch would “work assiduously in collaboration with President Tinubu by providing the required legislative interventions for the growth of the nation and benefit of all Nigerians.”

On his part, Barau urged Nigerians to pray for President Tinubu as he works to turn around the country’s fortunes positively.

He said:“ As we all know, this season reminds us to place our faith in the compassion and wisdom of Allah and to be obedient to His instructions, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim. True Muslims must adhere to peace, tolerance, justice, and charity.

House of Representatives Abbas appealed to citizens to pursue unity and national cohesion, adopting the age-old maxim ‘united we stand, divided we fall’.

The Speaker said the celebration has a major significance in the life of Muslims as it reminds the people of the supremacy of Allah and the importance of sacrifice.

He urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to use this period for sober reflection and be their brothers’ keeper at all times.

Similarly, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State said what the state and the country need most at this time is improved security.

He prayed Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of Nigerians , and accompany their daily lawful businesses with limitless blessings.

On his part, Katsina State governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, stressed the need for compassion and selflessness among Nigerians, saying the occasion of the Eid el Kabir should be used for strengthening the bonds of unity within our communities.

He added: “ We must also uphold the teachings of Islam, which promote peace, tolerance, and respect for all, regardless of backgrounds or beliefs.”

Governor Radda also enjoined Muslim faithful to seek Divine intervention in the security challenges facing Katsina State and the nation.

However, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State called on Muslims to use the opportunity to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah SWT and for doing good to humanity.

Makinde equally charged them to use the occasion to make more supplications to Allah SWT for continued peace and prosperity in Nigeria and Oyo State.

“Muslims must take to heart the lesson in Quran 22:37 that; ‘Neither their meat nor blood reaches Allah. Rather, it is your piety that reaches Him. He has subjected them to you so that you may proclaim the greatness of Allah for what He has guided you to, and give good news to the good-doers,’” he said

“Therefore, I urge them to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah and to seeking the good of humanity and our society.

In Ogun, Governor Dapo Abiodun described the Eid el Kabir as a period of sober reflection on the importance of selflessness, compassion, and the willingness to make sacrifices for the sake of our faith and the betterment of humanity.

The governor added that Sallah presents an opportunity for Muslims to gather with their families, strengthen their bonds, and share in the blessings of the festive period.
