All African Games: Nigeria wins six Gold Medals in Women’s Wrestling
The Nigerian team competing in the 13th Edition of the All African Games in Ghana on Sunday night achieved great success in the Freestyle Women’s Wrestling category, bringing home six gold medals.
The winners are: Blessing Genesis (50kg) defeated Emma Nekassa of Kenya; Ogunsanya Christiana (53kg) defeated Mohammad S. of Egypt; and Adekuroye Odunayo (57kg) defeated TBD.
Kolowole Esther (62kg) defeated Kruger M of the Republic of South Africa; Oborodudu Blessing (68kg) defeated Abdullateef S of Egypt; and Hannah Rubin (76kg) defeated Hamza S. of Egypt.
Earlier Nigeria’s Anioluwapo Opeyori, the African Badminton champion, had brought home one gold medal and one silver medal with his Nigerian opponent in final.
The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has congratulated the athletes and coaches for their impressive performance.
Enoh noted that it was a proud moment to see Nigerian women flying the flag high.
He encouraged the athletes to stay focused on winning, assuring them that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to supporting the Sports sector in all ramifications and ensuring that all dues were paid on time.
