Agboola Ajayi mourns Senator MAE Onunkun, says it’s a huge loss

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi has described the death of a Second Republic Senator, Michael Atijosan Emmanuel Onunkun as an end of a glorious political era.

Onunkun popularly known as MAE Onunkun, died on Wednesday in Okitipupa, Ondo State at the age of 98.

He represented Ondo West Senatorial District, now Ondo South, in the old Ondo State from 1979 to 1983.

Ajayi in a condolence message he personally signed, said that Pa Onukun was a complete leader who devoted his life to the service of his family, community, State and the nation.

“He remained through his life an epitome of modesty, discipline and service, never self seeking, but absolutely distinguished in all he did,” the PDP candidate noted.

He thanked God for the gift of a unique man who was of essence all through his life with an unwavering commitment to the good of the nation, noting that his legacies and accomplishments shall serve as a tonic that will energize generations to come.

“All who knew him will certainly remain proud of his leadership and his lifestyle” Ajayi stressed, adding that the memory of his brilliant leadership qualities will remain a source of inspiration and encouragement to all his friends and associates.

Ajayi said his thoughts are with the family of the departed Senator and “on behalf of my family, the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Organisation and the global PDP family, I pray God give the family and well wishers the fortitude to bear this huge loss.”
