Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Officer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has approved the inauguration of a nine-man visitation panel for Redeemer’s University, Ede, in Osun State.
A statement by Mr Adetunji Adeleye, Deputy Director, Directorate of Corporate Affairs of the institution, on Monday in Ede, said that the panel was to access the performances of the university in the last five years.
Adeleye said that Adeboye, who is a visitor to the university, approved the setting up of the panel in line with the requirements of the university’s law that visitation panel be constituted to assess the performances of the institution at a five-year interval.
He said that members of the panel were inaugurated by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees(BoT) of the university, Pastor Olukayode Pitan, on Sept. 17, in Lagos.
Pitan, during the inauguration said that the last panel visitation to the university was in 2019.
He said that Adeboye approved the setting up of the visitation panel in compliance with the university’s law and global best practices.
Pitan expressed optimism that the outcome of the exercise would assist the university to reach for greater heights.
Also speaking, Prof. Shadrach Akindele, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, said that the university viewed the assignment of the visitation panel as an opportunity to gain invaluable insights into how the institution had performed and to take stock of both successes and the areas where there is need for improvement.
Akindele commended the chairman and members of the BoT for constituting the panel, saying it is a clear demonstration of their commitment to upholding the values of quality education, transparency, and accountability, especially within the unique framework of a Christian university.
In his response, the Chairman of the visitation Panel, Prof. Femi Mimiko, appreciated the BoT Chairman and members for the privilege to carry out the assignment.
Mimiko, former Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, said that himself and other members of the panel members considered the assignment as a great honour and promised to do a thorough job that would justify the confidence reposed in them.
He appealed to the university community and other relevant stakeholders for cooperation in providing the necessary information for the assignment.
The visitation exercise is expected to cover from January 2019 to December 2023 with eight weeks period to conclude its assignment.
Members of the panel are Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, former Vice-Chancellor, Benson Idahosa University, Benin-City, Edo State; Mr Ayorinde Ogunruku, former Registrar, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and Dr Linda Onwuka, former Registrar, Federal University of Petroleum, Effurum, Delta State.
Others are Mr Moses Ilesanmi, former Bursar, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State; Dr Biodun Olokodare, Chartered Accountant; Mr Kolade Olutekunbi, a legal luminary, Mrs Wonu Adetayo, a boardroom guru and human resource consultant and Mr Olukayode Osinuga, Acting Bursar, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
