Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is poised to integrate Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its academic curriculum.
Besides, the institution has put in place plans to replace the computer science course with Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and other skills related courses.
Dr Ibraheem Abdul, Rector, YABATECH, made this known during a courtesy visit to Chief Babatunde Fanimokun, a renowned philanthropist and developmental economist.
Dr Abdul emphasized the importance of incorporating cutting-edge technologies, like robotics and AI to equip students with the skills needed in the rapidly evolving job market.
A statement issued by YABATECH management quoted the Rector as saying: “The AI and robotics hub will serve as a dedicated space for cutting-edge research and development in artificial intelligence and robotics technologies.
“Faculty, students and industry professionals can collaborate on projects that push the boundaries of innovation. Artificial Intelligence and other skills related courses will be replacing the computer science course from next session.”
According to the rector, the move will position the institution at the forefront of educational innovation, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the ever-evolving digital era.
He noted that this initiative would foster collaborations with industry leaders, creating opportunities for joint projects, internship and knowledge exchange.
According to him, this connection with the industry will keep the curriculum relevant and aligned with the latest advancements in Robotics and AI.
He, however, solicited the support of the octogenarian in breathing fresh air into the institution.
Speaking, Chief Fanimokun, pledged his support to YABATECH and expressed his love for education, and dedication to advancing entrepreneurship in the institution.
He promised to contribute to the creation of start-up hubs and a green campus in the college.
His vision, he averred, aligns with fostering innovation and sustainable practices within the educational landscape.
While promising to extend his commitment beyond financial support, Chief Fanimokun, expressed his determination to promote the growth of education and entrepreneurship beyond the college.
