Ondo 2024: APC reconciliatory meeting deadlock as aspirants walk-out on Ganduje

Facts have emerged that the Thursday’s meeting between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and some aggrieved governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress(APC) at the instance of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, ended in a deadlock.

Thefrontrank reports that some of the aggrieved aspirants walked out on Ganduje during a group photography.

Usman Ododo, the Chairman of the Ondo State Governorship Primary Election and Kogi State Governor, had on Monday declared Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the Saturday, April 20, governorship primary with 48,569 votes.

Amidst protests by aspirants and party faithful, Ododo announced that the governor, defeated 15 other aspirants to clinch the ticket.

Thefrontrank gathered that the meeting believed to be for reconciliation held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja ends without a concrete resolution or agreement.

It was learnt that some of the aggrieved aspirants retorted angrily while leaving the meeting.

Competent source at the meeting told Thefrontrank that one of the aggrieved aspirants challenged Ganduje to swear openly if indeed there was a governorship primary conducted by the party on Saturday, April 20, in the state.

According to the source, one of the aspirants challenged Ganduje saying, “Mr Chairman, can you swear openly that there was a governorship primary election in Ondo State on Saturday, April 20, 2024 conducted by our party(APC). Can swear by all what you have?”

Continuing, the source said: “Ganduje who was bewildered, was merely begging the aspirant to accept defeat and work for the victory of the party during the election.

“Some aspirants angrily walked out of the meeting after they were told to take a group photograph.

“The meeting ended in deadlock, nothing was achieved.”

It was learnt that the National Vice Chairman of APC (South West), Isaac Kekemeke, and Wale Akinterinwa were absent at the meeting.
