There is a palpable fear in Igbodigo community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State following the gruesome murder of Prince Ogo Omoge, a grandson of a popular musician, late Comfort Omoge.
Thefrontrank gathered that the incident which still left residents of the agrarian community in shock, happened in the evening of Thursday, April 17, along Okitipupa-Igbokoda road.
It was gathered that Ogo Omoge was hacked to death with knife by a scavenger during an argument over an undisclosed matter.
The altercation, it was gathered, escalated to violence, resulting in the assailant using a dagger to stab the victim leading to his death.
“There was a minor disagreement between Prince Ogo Omoge and the scavenger. What started as a minor issue spiraled out of control.
“He was stabbed by the scavenger. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” the source said.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed that the suspect has been arrested by the police.
“Yes, I can confirm the incident occurred on April 17, 2025. One suspect has been arrested and is currently being held in custody,” Olayinka said
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government area, Andrew Ogunsakin, noted that the effort of residents of the community with security agencies led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar.
Ogunsakin assured the community of his administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, urging them to remain calm and law-abiding.
