The Police have charged Rabiu Usman, 43, with defiling an 11-year-old girl in Timdore, a district in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Police Command in Adamawa state said in a statement on Friday that the arrest resulted from a referral from the Chief Magistrate Court, Ganye, following a complaint lodged by the girĺ’s mother.
The complaint, according to the police, is that, on February 16, 2025, the minor, while attending a wedding ceremony in Timdore village, went to a nearby house to drink water.
“Unfortunately, the suspect dragged her to the rear side of the compound and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” the police said.
The statement explained that upon receiving the report, the victim was taken to a medical facility in Ganye for medical examination and treatment.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, strongly condemns the act and directed the Officer in Charge of the Family Support Unit of the Command to take over investigation and ensure a diligent prosecution of the suspect,” the statement assured.
