Olubadan, Lekan Balogun joins ancestors at 81, for burial 4pm

Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, CFR, Alli Okunmade II, has joined his ancestors. Aged 81.

Oba Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan, passed on to the great beyond on Thursday night.

His younger brother, Dr Kola Balogun, disclosed in a statement by the late Olubadan’s media aide, Oladele Ogunsola, that Olubadan bowed out gracefully Thursday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan after a brief illness.

He added that the late traditional ruler was taken to the hospital having stayed indoors throughout Tuesday on account of a slight malaria fever.

Oba Balogun spent two years on the throne of his forefathers, having been presented the Staff of Office by the Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on March 11, 2022.

Oba Balogun who died barely 72 hours after completing two years on the throne as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland will be buried at his Aliiwo ancestral home by 4 p.m on Friday according to Islamic rites.

The late Olubadan was born on October 18, 1942.
