The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has stressed the importance of strategic leadership and multi-agency collaboration in addressing national security challenges.
He made this known during the opening ceremony of the Strategic Commanders Course at the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser, Abuja, according to The Guardian.
Represented at the event, General Musa conveyed his deep appreciation to the organisers and participants, acknowledging their crucial role in strengthening Nigeria’s security framework.
The course, he noted, aims to enhance the decision-making capabilities of senior military and security personnel by equipping them with advanced crisis response skills.
“This gathering marks the beginning of a critical journey that will not only enhance your operational competencies but also foster inter-agency coordination in managing security crises,” he stated.
Participants, drawn from the armed forces, security agencies, and various government institutions, will receive expert insights from local and international facilitators, including partners from the United Kingdom.
The CDS underscored the need for an inclusive approach to tackling security threats, urging the attendees to embrace innovative thinking, teamwork, and resilience.
“National security is a collective responsibility. It requires out-of-the-box solutions, decisive leadership, and the ability to make tough calls under pressure,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the armed forces, as well as to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his commitment to national security.
As the programme commences, participants are expected to engage in high-level discussions and practical exercises designed to enhance Nigeria’s security architecture and contribute to regional and global peace efforts.
