
Nine persons have been confirmed dead, while three others severely injured in a road accident on the Ayetoro area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The crash involving a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number UYY 165 ZY and a truck registered number DKA 244 XC, happened at about 5.30 a.m on Monday.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe, attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and fatigue, which led to loss of control and causing the driver to ram into a stationary truck.
Okpe disclosed that 13 persons, comprising 10 male adults and three female adults, were involved in the crash.
Okpe noted that the injured were taken to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, while the deceased were deposited at Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
She lamented the carelessness of some drivers who disregard the stipulated speed limit and the requirement for a 15-minute break after a four-hour journey.
