The wife of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, Oluwaseun, is backed in Akure with her children for her husband’s inauguration holding on Monday, February 24, Thefrontrank reports.
The Ondo First Lady returned from United Kingdom with her children on Friday, February 21 for the programme.
Thefrontrank gathered that Aiyedatiwa accepted their return for the inauguration following mounting pressure from families and friends.
The governor’s wife and children who had stayed away from the state since Aiyedatiwa’s swearing-in on December 27, 2023, after the demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, had on Sunday attended the inauguration church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), Jesus House, Ijapo, Akure.
“The governor’s wife is back in Akure for her husband’s inauguration
“She returned from the United Kingdom on Friday following appeal by close relatives and friends on the need to attend inauguration.
“She is currently staying in an hotel instead of her husband’s house in Alagbaka or Government House,” the government source told Thefrontrank.
The governor’s wife who made a dramatic appearance at the Government House during the wedding ceremony of the governor’s niece, held at Government House Chapel, had on Sunday, February 16 returned to the United Kingdom.
The absence of the governor’s wife from public affairs had sparked conversations about governance and the role of the first lady in the administration.
Some residents had called for her return, seeing her presence as essential to the government’s public image and operational stability.
