The police authorities have released Gani Muhammed-Ajowa, the embattled former Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, on bail after spending five days in detention.
Thefrontrank learned that Muhammed regained freedom at about 5.30p.m on Friday in Abuja after meeting his bail conditions.
Muhammed, who was detained by the Police at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, was asked to produce a civil servant on Grade Level 14 as part of the bail conditions.
The former special adviser was allegedly involved in political violence in his hometown, Ajowa-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government area, on the eve of the January 18 council elections with the aid of undocumented policemen mobilised from Akure.
Thefrontrank gathered that the policemen were disarmed by a senior police officer during the violence, who ordered their arrest, while Muhammed bolted to Akure and went into hiding.
He was arrested by operatives from the Force headquarters on Monday in Akure, and was immediately moved to Abuja for interrogation and was subsequently detained.
An indigene of Ajowa-Akoko told Thefrontrank on Saturday that Muhammed regained freedom on Friday evening after meeting his bail conditions.
“He is presently on his way to Akure,” the source said.
