A former Presidential Candidate of the Action Alliance Congress(AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has called for the immediate release of Mr Gani Muhammed-Ajowa, a former Aide to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.
Sowore, a human rights activist, called for the release of Muhammed in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday.
Thefrontrank reports that Muhammed was arrested by the police on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, and whisked to Abuja.
Muhammed was allegedly involved in political violence in his hometown Ajowa-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government area, during the January 18 council elections.
Reacting to the arrest, Sowore wrote: “Apparently, Gani Muhammed Ajowa was taken from Ondo state by the Nigeria Police Force, allegedly using a rogue unit tied to the office of illegal IGP Egbetokun, known as the “X” Squad. Gani’s detention reportedly links to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Internal Affairs minister, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. All attempts to bail Mr. Gani have been unsuccessful. #FreeGaniNow.”
