The All Progressives Congress(APC) has won 16 out of the 18 Chairmanship seats in the Ondo State Local Government elections held on Saturday.
The State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) announced the results of the elections on Sunday in Akure, Thefrontrank reports.
Declaring the results, Dr Joseph Aremo, ODIEC Chairman and Chief Returning Officer, said that the APC also won all the councillorship seats in the 16 Local Government Areas.
Aremo explained that the results for Owo Local Government and Ondo West Local Government, which were cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday, due to wrong logo of one of the parties on the ballot papers would be announced later.
Twelve political parties contested for chairmanship and councillorship seats in the 18 local government areas.
The Peoples Democratict Party, one of the 13 parties registered for the elections, withdrew 48 hours to the event.
The 12 political parties that contested in the elections include: Action Alliance, Action Democratic Party, Action People’s Party, All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Boot Party, and Labour Party.
Others include the National Rescue Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressive Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
