Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Monday thronged the party secretariat in Akure demanding the removal of the State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin.
They were led by a former State Youth Leader, and the spokesperson for the aggrieved members, Barr. Olutayo Babalayo.
Babalayo while speaking on the development said the suspended Chairman should vacate office to defend the allegations levelled against him.
Thefrontrank reports that Adetimehin was suspended over the weekend by the executives of his ward in Ofosu, in the Idanre Local Government Area of the state for making statement that could cause disunity in the party.
The protesters also accused Adetimehin of doctoring the chairmanship and councillorship list and allegedly collecting money illegally for favouritism.
Babalayo, while calming down the aggrieved members protesting at the party secretariat, said a five-man committee has been put in place to investigate the allegations.
According to Babalayo, popularly known as Olu-T, Adetimehin has been summoned by the five-man committee.
The members of the committee to investigate the allegations are; Hon. Akindele Adeniyi, Chairman;
Hon. Dr Adeyemi Olayemi, Vice Chairman; Comrade Gani Mohammed, Secretary; while Mr Rahman Rotimi Dauda and Mr Dare Boboye are members.
“We want peace in our state, we want peace in our party.
”Some people like us got involved to know what we are protesting is the misrule and maladministration by Mr Ade Adetimehin, and we just believed that when the party members are aggrieved, they have to vent their anger, and we are trying as much as possible that our guys don’t create any problem.
“We need peace, that is why some of us are here to demobilize the protesters.
“A five-man committee has been set up to look at the issues raised and even me, I am going to appear before the committee,” he said.
Babalayo, however, urged the suspended Chairman to make himself available before the committee to clear his name to avoid further crisis.
