The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present Certificates of Return to Ondo State Governor-elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Olayide Adelami on Wednesday.
The presentation will take place at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, according to Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, who confirmed the development on Monday.
“The certificates of return will be presented by the commission to the governor-elect and his deputy on Wednesday,” Oyekanmi said.
Thefrontrank reports that Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the governorship election after securing 366,781 votes to defeate the Peoples Democratic Party’s Agboola Ajayi, who garnered 117,845 votes.
The certificate of return presentation is a statutory process marking the official conclusion of the electoral process and affirming the mandate of the elected officials.
Aiyedatiwa is set to begin a fresh term in office, with expectations high for his administration to address critical developmental challenges in the state.
