
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has signed into law N96 billion supplementary budget passed by the state House of Assembly.
The supplementary budget was assented to by the Governor at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office on Tuesday.
Speaking shortly after signing the budget, Aiyedatiwa lauded the Assembly for expediting action in passing the bill in view of its importance to the state and residents.
This brings the total budget for 2024 to a total of N492, 045, 100, 000, with the recurrent expenditure of N246, 727, 852, 786 and capital expenditure of N245, 317, 247, 214.
The supplementary budget captures the payment of the new minimum wage of N73, 000 recently announced the Governor, and the salaries of newly recruited workers.
Aiyedatiwa said the supplementary budget reflected the determination of his administration to cater for the welfare of workers and the overall development of the state.
The Governor also signed into law the Bill providing for the expansion of the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), and the Amendment Bill for the Ondo State House of Assembly Service Commission Law.
Speaking, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, commended the leadership style of Aiyedatiwa, noting: “These giant strides have not only transformed the State in all facets but have clearly demonstrated your vision, capacity, intellectual ability, zeal, passion, direction and a clear understanding of the enormous job ahead.
“I want to on behalf of my colleagues assure Mr. Governor of our continuous support and cooperation to ensure the success of this administration. It is therefore hoped that the implementation of these Laws will impact meaningfully on the lives of the good people of the State.”
