Ondo 2024: INEC boss in Akure for stakeholders’ engagements
Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu on Monday arrived Akure, the State capital, for stakeholders engagements.
Yakubu’s primary purpose in the state with lined up engagements is to ensure a hitch-free conduct of the off-circle election as INEC is in the last stage of preparation.
Thefrontrank reports that as part of the engagements, Yakubu would assess the readiness of INEC state headquarters and local government area offices for the mock accreditation exercise slated for November 6.
Other activities include a stakeholders’ meeting slated for November 7 by 10:00 am at the Dome International Event Centre, Akure.
On November 8 at 10:00am, there will be signing of a peace accord by the political parties coordinated by the National Peace Committee (NPC) and INEC, as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful election process, at the Dome International Event Centre, Akure.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olusola Ebiseni of the Labour Party (LP), Gbenga Edema of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) and Bamidele Akingboye of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) are the leading candidates eying the Alagbaka Government House.
According to INEC, 2,053,061 registered voters will decide the fate of the candidates, who have being criss-crossing the state to woo voters in a relatively peaceful electioneering.
