Son allegedly stabs father to death in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, for allegedly stabbing his father to death at their residence on Oba Kabiru Street, Isolo, Lagos.
Chiemelie was arrested following a report made at the Aswani Police Division by his father’s neighbour.
According to the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect has confessed to the crime following his arrest.
“The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 pm, when a complainant reported to the Aswani Division that he had received a call from his father’s neighbour.”
“The neighbour informed him that his father, Mr Chiemelie, aged 68, was in an altercation with his son. The complainant rushed to the residence and found his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, which led to the police report.
“Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where a blood-stained knife was discovered near the deceased. Photographs of the scene were taken, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead,” he said.
The suspect was arrested shortly after, and during questioning, he admitted to killing his father. The body has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary, while the investigation is ongoing.
