We dumped APC due to bad governance in Ondo State – Odigbo leaders

Thousands of chieftains and members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State at the weekend dropped the broom and clutched the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

The defectors, led by Alhaji Yusuf Abdulateef popularly known as Sheu Agba, said they dumped APC due to “bad governance in Ondo State” resulting in poverty and hunger.

Thefrontrank reports that they defected on Saturday at Ore, headquarters of Odigbo local government.

Abdulateef described the ruling party as weapon of poverty and misery for the citizens with its anti-masses policies and programmes.

While lamenting the level of hunger currently in the country, Abdulateef said the ruling party in the state lack quality leadership that can bring succour and dividends of democracy to the people.

Said he: “They tried to bend us to stay in their party, offering millions of naira in the last few days but I resisted them because I am for the masses and the masses are suffering the effect of bad governance in Ondo State.

“What is the essence of me taking their money and all my supporters, thousands of them continue to live in poverty and hunger. I won’t go in such direction.

“We believe Agboola Ajayi has the experience and the credentials to redirect the ship of Ondo State to prosperity that’s why we decided to join him in PDP so that together we can liberate Ondo State.”

He equally condemned APC’s failure to uphold the tenets of true democracy which include equity, impartiality and fairness.

Also, the Iya Ikale, a support group of the Ondo APC defected to PDP.

The defectors were received by the Chairman of Ondo PDP Campaign Council, Dr Eddy Olafeso, who assured them that the party would not disappoint them.

Olafeso immediately appointed Abdulateef as Chairman, Mobilization, Ondo South Senatorial District of the Campaign Council.

The PDP governorship candidate in the November 16 election, Hon. Agboola Ajayi; the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, Hon. Bakita Bello: Hon. Clement Faboyede, and other leaders were present at the event.
