Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat buried in Ijebu Aiyepe

The popular Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso will be buried on Tuesday at Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State

She died in the early hours of Tuesday in Lagos.

The Solatul Janazzah (Prayer for the Dead) was earlier observed for the singer in Ojota, Lagos State on Tuesday.

During the prayer, it was announced that the final prayer and burial would take place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State, at noon on Tuesday.

A popular Islamic channel, YAYI TV, also confirmed this in a Facebook post.

It read, “Alh. Rukayat Gawat is no more May Allah be pleased with her – Amin.

“Her funeral (Janazah prayer) will take place in Ijebu Aiyepe Ogun State today by noon – may Allah be pleased with her soul.”

Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso had a significant influence on the Islamic music scene.

Though the cause of her death has not yet been disclosed, her legacy in Islamic music and the deep connection she had with her audience remains irreplaceable.

She is survived by her husband, Alhaji Shakiru Oyefeso.
