Notorious bandit leader “Kachalla Sani Black”, sons eliminated in Zamfara
The notorious bandit leader Kachalla Sani Black has been killed alongside two of his sons during an ambush in the Magama Mai Rake area of Maru Local Government, Zamfara State.
This operation not only resulted in the deaths of the notorious bandit and his sons but also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a PKT machine gun.
Kachalla Sani Black was a prominent figure in the region’s banditry, rivalling fellow bandit Bello Turji. Known for his ruthless operations, he terrorised communities and commuters across Northern Zamfara and launched attacks in neighbouring states such as Kaduna, Niger, and Kebbi. At the height of his power, he commanded over 150 armed followers.
Residents of Zamfara celebrated the vigilantes’ successful operation, which is seen as a crucial step toward restoring peace in the area plagued by banditry.
Kachalla was infamous for leading brutal attacks and had trained his followers in abductions, sexual violence, and other heinous crimes.
The Zamfara Police Commissioner, CP Ayuba Elkanah, had previously highlighted the banditry’s impact on the community, with one of Kachalla’s accomplices, Sani Mati Mai-Yanmata, being arrested in 2021 for kidnapping and sexually assaulting victims, including vulnerable women and girls.
The elimination of Kachalla Sani Black marks a turning point in the fight against banditry in Zamfara, with hopes of a more secure environment for local residents.
