The Police have arrested officers involved in the alleged extortion of N3 million from Liberty Isaac and his friends while travelling from Bayelsa to Imo State.
A post by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on his X handle on Thursday, said the officers attached to Zone 16 Command in Yenagoa have been ordered to report to the Force Headquarters for further investigation.
“The policemen involved in this case of extortion of 3m have been arrested. The men are attached to zone 16 command in Yenagoa. The command has been asked to produce the men at the FHQ.
“The FHQ will continue to sanitise the system and ensure justice is done in all cases brought to its notice,” he stated.
It was reported that a Ghana-based Nigerian, Liberty Isaac, had urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to fish out some policemen who allegedly extorted N3m from him at gunpoint.
Isaac, who hails from Nguru Nworie autonomous community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Owerri, the state capital last week Friday.
He said the policemen accosted him and two of his friends last week Monday at Udi axis in Bayelsa State and forced him at gunpoint to transfer N3M to them after manhandling him and threatening to shoot him.
