18 days to Ondo election, SDP deputy governorship candidate joins APC
Eighteen days to the November 16 election in Ondo State, Mrs Susan Gbemisola Alabi, the deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Alabi had resigned from the SDP due to irreconcilable differences with the party’s governorship candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye.
Alabi was welcomed into the APC fold by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate, during his campaign tour of Akoko North West Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Speaking at rally, Aiyedatiwa assured residents that the 2025 budget would be strategically designed to benefit every region in the State.
“The 2025 budget will be well-structured to guarantee that every area of Ondo State benefits from development initiatives,” he said, emphasizing upcoming improvements in infrastructure and services in Akoko North West.
Aiyedatiwa also expressed gratitude for the support of traditional rulers, who had endorsed him both during the APC primary and for the forthcoming election.
Representing 27 traditional rulers in the council, the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Olasehinde Ojo Adetona, pledged unwavering support, promising strong voter turnout for the APC.
During the event in Oke Irun, Aiyedatiwa urged party supporters to remain united and actively participate in securing victory for the APC.
He highlighted that his campaign’s route through major areas in the local government enabled him to directly understand the communities’ needs.
The celebratory atmosphere continued in Oke Agbe, the local government headquarters, where Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s focus on critical areas such as security, infrastructure and agriculture, assuring residents that their concerns would be reflected in future planning.
